Horizon Insight is an evolving tool designed to support mission-critical decision-making by enabling synchronized playback and review of data collected from multiple operational assets. Developed within the context of a Horizon Europe project, Horizon Insight is currently deployed in a Navy Operational Command Center, serving as a key component in a growing European ecosystem for defense and civil protection technologies.

At this stage, Horizon Insight focuses on record and replay functionality, providing operators with the ability to reconstruct operational events in detail. By offering a unified interface for reviewing time-stamped mission data, the platform enhances situational awareness, supports debriefing and training, and lays the foundation for future real-time integration and decision-making.

Challenge

Field operations—whether military, maritime, or civil protection—rely on a wide range of assets equipped with advanced sensors. These systems generate vast streams of data, including GNSS positioning, video feeds, and perception outputs. However, this data is often siloed across different platforms, making it difficult for operators to access a coherent operational picture during or after a mission.

Operators are frequently forced to manually piece together fragmented information for mission analysis, training, or reporting—an inefficient and error-prone process. Meanwhile, post-operation insights are critical for improving performance, informing strategy, and preparing for future missions.

Solution

Horizon Insight addresses these challenges by providing a synchronized playback environment that brings together mission data from multiple sources. Instead of jumping between systems, users can now replay events with precise GNSS-based timestamps, analyze key moments frame by frame, and extract meaningful insights for after-action review.

    Operators can replay recorded mission data in a chronological, synchronized interface—ideal for post-mission analysis, debriefing, and training. Key moments can be tagged and annotated for structured review.
