Ali Shoker, Research Scientist & Technical Lead for Distributed Systems and Cybersecurity at VORTEX-CoLab, gave a talk at the Automotive Testing Solutions Forum (ATS) Forum entitled “Automotive V2V Platoon Management and V2X Validation”. With the main theme of “The Next Steps for the Mobility Industry”, Ali explored topics such as the dilemmas of autonomous mobility, the new paradigms of mobility, and the use of hydrogen. He focused on Platooning, which is convoy-style coordination of Connected Vehicles (mainly Trucks), aimed at reducing fuel consumption and improving safety. Recently, platooning has been gaining attention in the automotive industry driven by the fast evolution of wireless technology, including ITS G5, LTE-C, and 5G, which raises new safety and cybersecurity challenges.

The ATS Forum is dedicated to the discussion of testing and validation solutions for the automotive industry. This event brings together R&D engineers, automotive technology experts, and test specialists from leading national and international organizations, to analyze and discuss the future and current developments in the domains of connected and autonomous driving, and, in general, in the mobility industry. Held annually, is an excellent opportunity to learn more about new developments and opportunities of the automotive industry at the European level.
