Autonomous driving (AD) has the potential to substantially impact safety, mobility, congestion, land use, and the environment. In order to move safely with little or no human input, self-driving cars need to be capable of sensing its environment. This new breed of cars is equipped with several cameras and sensors that produce miles and miles of data – from a few MB to GB per day -, therefore massive volumes of multisource and heterogeneous data that needs to be analyzed is generated at every second.

Currently, there´s a great investment in ADAS (Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems) features and tools but there is a lack of generic platforms for debugging purposes that can aid developers to create these kinds of autonomous systems. Development teams need to quickly inspect, debug, and explore ADAS/AD data from both offline and online testing. However, without the proper tools, it is hard to analyze all information provided by the car and to trade ideas between clients and co-workers across different locations.

This project’s aim was to build a 3D Web-based Platform for flexible, adaptable and personalized visualization and debugging of ADAS/AD data. The ambition is to change the premise that companies have to develop their own visualization platform for development and visualization of data logs from autonomous systems. We provide a generic web-based visualization platform that can load logged data from different sources in an easily configurable format, without the need for a complex setup.

The proposed solution combines the following features:

  • MULTI-SOURCE DATA INTEGRATION: Integrate a multitude of data sources and views to easily fit the representation needs for debugging any situation on the recorded data​;
  • SYNCHRONIZED AND CONFIGURABLE FORMATS​: Access information in a fluid and synchronized fashion while being able to easily configure visual data provided by the ADAS/AD systems
  • EASY SETUP AND ​EMPOWERED COLLABORATION​: Web-based platform to allow teams a quick and easy access, anywhere, in any operating system, and with no set-up or training required.
